Telling Stories in Words
Words are always answers to questions. They inform, promote and, on occasion, inspire. Whether writing a profile, policy or press release, the words you use are only as good as the questions you ask.
I have worked with many people and organizations to write documents ranging from company newsletters to quality assurance policies. In my collection of past projects you’ll find software manuals, fundraising proposals, press releases, advertising copy and research report projects.
I’m a writing generalist. If you’re not familiar with that term it means someone who can:
- define the needs of a writing project
- interview experts for content and information
- research the pieces that are missing
- determine what the audience needs to know
- produce written content to answer the audience’s questions
The production of any written work involves the ability to nurture good ideas, work out a logical progression of thoughts, and ruthlessly edit, if need be, to meet the requirements of the audience.
My particular strengths are in big-picture thinking, conducting research, substantive and stylistic editing, and producing well-structured written products for both print and online uses.
